BIOGRAPHY AND SPEECHES

NASRALLAH'S BIOGRAPHY

Citation of the Biography of his Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah

In The Name of Allah

Magazine interviewed the Secretary General of Hizbullah his eminence sayyed Hassan Nasrallah on its pages on 28-11-1997. This is a translation from the French script:

It is a primarily precedent:

Sayyed (Mr.) Hassan Nasrallah tells his biography.

This was the first time during which Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah (the Secretary General of Hizbullah) agrees to talk about his life, expressing his satisfaction of not being totally bounded by his party, its thoughts, motivations, struggle, and politics. This is a speech that he addressed to the audience.

Charismatic is this man who has a soul made of steel. He adapts easily to any continuous threat, which would strain the nerves of any ordinary citizen, any anytime, and he is aware of this. “Israel,” if it sees it is necessary, may seek his termination along with his family, wife, and children, through shelling his residence or strike him with rockets on a countryside road, likewise his precedent Sayyed Abbas al Musawi.

With high spirits, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah dealt with the martyrdom of his eldest son Hadi, who was martyred during a clash with "Israelis,” as a father who was happy for the martyrdom of his son, for obtaining the blessing of the martyrdom that opens the gates of the garden for a believer.

This we have seen clearly on the screens of the TV. Sayyed Hassan wanted to receive congratulations and not condolences, and he did not issue any particular statement concerning the funeral.

This is another attitude – according to close relations – without any allegations. The man’s belief is very strong where he received the news of his son’s death without any complaints, as if it was a general affair…

Hadi who fought a short while ago in the lines of the “Islamic Resistance” was subjected to such issue. His father thinks it’s a great honor, concerning humane level, for his son to fall in the field of honor while facing the enemy. However, he in particular is happy for Hadi attaining the blessing of martyrdom, but let us avoid confusions, he misses the boy “otherwise why should someone be a father”… He has visions of seeing him and the regrets of a father’s affection. However, he deepens into his belief hoping they will meet someday at the great and almighty, and due to his blessing…

He continuously resides in the shade of the "Israeli" threat that regards him as a target, exactly like the occupation of which the country is suffering, and against which Hizbullah is fighting. Therefore, anything related to the character of the Secretary General embodies an exceptional symbol within the party.

Truly overwhelmed by the picture of Imam Mousa al Sador:

His father Abdul Karim used to sell fruit and vegetable with the help of his brothers. With a slight improvement of their circumstances, the father was able to start a small grocery shop in the neighborhood. Hassan used to visit the shop frequently in order to help, and the picture of Imam Mousa al Sador was hanging on one of the walls. The little child would sit in front of the picture and stare at it, and as he remembers, he used to drown into endless dreams. Each time he stared at the picture his adornment and attachment to Imam increased, and he hoped he could be like him someday.

Hassan did not look like the other boys of the neighborhood. Those boys played football, went to sea for swimming, whereas he went to the mosque frequently in Sin el-Feel area, Bourj Hammoud, or Nabaa, due to the lack of a mosque in Karanteena.

It was an unseen religious call the predicted nothing, as he had no relation with any of the clerics, and his family was not uniquely religious. However, Hassan, the young boy, was attached to religion, where simple practices such as praying and fasting were insufficient for him, and he would go further.

His surroundings that were extensively mixed in Karanteena did not snag him, rather he would keep himself in isolation, and he was utterly attached to his inner life and knowledge, with a background fed with the picture of Imam Sador…

At the age of nine, Hassan went down – as familiar – to Burouj, the old martyrs’ square, known as city center, in order to by second hand books, which were displayed at the roadsides or carried on wandering carriages.

He used to read anything that would fall into his hands concerning Islam. When he encountered difficulty understanding any book, he would place it aside to read it later when he grows up…

He terminated his elementary education in “Najah” School, and he was one of the last groups who obtained the “Certificate” (its public examination was canceled in 1970). After that he continued his study in the public school of Sin el-Feel. The war that ignited in 1975 forced the family to leave Karanteena and return to village, where Hassan Nasrallah terminated his secondary education at the public school of Sour.

When he lived in Karanteena, neither he, nor any member of his family belonged to any party, despite of the existence of many organizations – some of which are Palestinian – in that region. However, after he returned to his village “Bazouriya”, he joined the lines of Amal Movement, and it was a natural choice for him since he was affectionately attached to Imam Mousa al Sador. At that time he was 15-year-old, and Amal was known by the name of “the movement of the deprived.” However, his choice was a bit flashy, in a village that was controlled by Socialism, Marxism, and in particular the Lebanese Communist Party.

Anyhow, his brother Hussein and he became members of Amal Base, where he punctually became the representative in his village despite his young age.

During those times, and within a few months, he decided to travel to Najaf Ashraf in Iraq, the sacred place of Shiites, in order to study Quraanic divine sciences. At that time he was below the age of sixteen, and he lacked the methods. In the mosque of Sour, he met a cleric who was sayyed Muhammad al Gharawi, who used to teach in the name of imam Mousa al Sador, and Hassan spoke to him about his wish to go to Hawza1 in Najaf, the village and Shiite religious school, wherein students chose their teachers, and lived a communal life. Al Gharawi, who had a relation of friendship with great master sayyed Muhammad Baqir al Sador in Iraq, sent with “Hassan” a letter of recommendation to the latter.

Therefore, the young man gathered some things, some money, along with the help of his father and friends, and flew to Baghdad, then traveled by bus to Najaf. When he reached he had no money left with him, not even one penny. However, there is always – as he said – a supportive helping hand. What is more important is that he could bear the life of modesty. His food was bread and water, and his bed was a simple mattress of sponge.

As he arrived, he met some Lebanese people and asked them about the possibility of delivering a letter of recommendation to Imam Muhammad Baqir al Sador, who was one of the Hawza magnates, and they replied saying that sayyed Abbass al Musawi is capable of doing so. At the first instance, Hassan Nasrallah thought that al Musawi, dark colored, was an Iraqi, and therefore he spoke to him in classical Arabic, and he replied saying: “don’t bother yourself, I am Lebanese, and I come from Nabi Sheeth in Biqaa. This was the beginning of a strong relationship.

Al Musawi became to Hassan Nasrallah “a friend, brother, teacher, and companion,” and he lost him sixteen years later at the time of the "Israeli" aggression that resulted in the death of the former Secretary General of Hizbullah. According to the request of Sayyed Muhammad Baqir al Sador, Al Musawi was appointed to the custody and teaching of the new arrival. After receiving him and reading the letter of recommendation from Sayyed Muhammad al Gharawi, the Iraqi religious pioneer asked him: “doe you have any money?” And he replied: “not even one penny.” Then Muhammad Baqir al Sador turned to Musawi and told him: “provide him with a room, be his teacher, and take care of him.” After which he gave Nasrallah some money to buy clothes and books, in addition to a monthly outlay.

Al Musawi gave attention to the mission assigned to him, he found him a room nearby his residence in Hawza, where Sayyed Abbas was married, and married people were the only persons entitled to a residence, whereas singles are entitled to one room, which may be shared with other people. Each student was entitled to simple aids, which did not exceed five Iraqi Dinars per month, granted by the accredited magnate clerics such as Imam al Khouei, or Imam Muhammad Baqir al Sador. The sponsorship of a student by a young man is not out of the ordinary inside Hawza, because it implemented a very distinguished system.

After that, intermediate stage known as “surface stage” was commenced, and later came the final higher stage known as “the outside research”, because it required a research into the opinions of the master clerics without referring to some definite and accredited books. As it is to some western academies, the student who receives a degree can in his turn pass his acquired knowledge to those who are younger than him. Therefore, Abbas al Musawi who finished his preparatory stage and commenced with the intermediate stage was able to receive a class including beginners, which included Nasrallah.

Al Musawi was serious and firm. Due to his firm teaching, his students were able to finish five years of education in the Hawza within only two years. In fact, they used to learn fast, and deprive themselves from the holidays of Ramadan and Haj, and even the weekends (Thursdays and Fridays). They would study without any interruption or halt.

In 1978, Hassan Nasrallah terminated his first stage successfully. First of all, he wanted to make sure that he would not loose the master who became a friend. However, on the same year, the Iraqi Regime began a strangling process against the religious students, and it deported a group of them with various nationalities. Above all, Baghdad seemed apprehensive to the Lebanese students, because not all of them came from the familiar and traditional religious environments, this is because the sons of the clerics were the ones who would arrive to the Quraanic schools, only in the middle of the seventies, it encountered the arrival of young educated men who did not belong to religious families. Since the war started in Lebanon, the Lebanese men were used as a scapegoat, and therefore they would be accused of belonging to Amal Movement on time, and another to “al Da’awa Party” or “Syrian Baath.” The matter would reach to the extent where they would be accused of being employed by the Syrian intelligence.

Therefore, in 1978 some Lebanese students (detained for several months) were deported from Iraq, likewise other foreign students, by the authorities.

Pursued by the men of Saddam, returned to Lebanon:

At one time, the men of Saddam broke into Hawza, a time during which Sayyed Abbass al Musawi was in Lebanon, and the soldiers found his family only. Therefore, his students informed him that he should consider avoiding any attempt of returning to Iraq, since he was wanted. Within a short period, the young men were also deported. When luck smiled at Hassan Nasrallah, the raid of the police that targeted Hawza coincided with his absence as he was outside the domain of Hawza. When he returned he was informed about the detainment of his peers, and therefore he departed Najaf immediately, and the order of his arrestment was not circulated yet in other areas, and his name was not listed at the border, and therefore he was able to return to Lebanon quietly, but before anything else, he had a desire to finish his religious education.

His wish was fulfilled when al Musawi started a school with a group of tutors from the religious school of Baalbeck, and which still operates until now. Nasrallah used to study and teach at the same time. After that he returned to his activities with the lines of Amal, which elected him as its political delegate in Biqaa in 1982. With this title, he became a member of the central political office. At the same year he finished his second stage, meaning the intermediate stage.

In 1982, the great "Israeli" invasion took place, and that year changed into an initial U turn within the existence of Hassan Nasrallah as well as his colleagues. Due to the "Israeli" occupation of Beirut, the “National Frontier for Salvation” was formed, in which president Nabih Birri had a desire to share a part. However, the religious extremists of the movement objected the issue, and conflict arose, and the group of the religious people dissented from the movement. This was an acceptable issue since there were many arguments earlier, which made them, take a stand against Mr. Birri because of the argument about interpreting the guidance left behind by Imam Mousa al Sador.

However, at that time these events did not seem highly risky to execute the dissension. But when the believing young men saw that the head of the movement Birri wanted to join the National Frontier for Salvation, headed by Elias Sarkees, along with Walid Junblat, Rasheed Karami, and Bashir Jumaeil, they considered the issue as a dangerous deflection. They in fact saw that the frontier aimed particularly at delivering Bashir Jumaeil the presidency of the republic, an issue they utterly rejected; because they believed that the president of the “Lebanese Forces” represented a symbol of normalization with the "Israeli" enemy, and making a truce was unacceptable, and so was shaking the hand of the enemy.

Due to these reasons, they abandoned “Amal” in order to establish “Hizbullah” with other members outside the movement. There, the old activists conducted communications with the cadres of the active cultural and charitable organizations in the neighborhoods in general, and at the congregations inside the mosques. Some of the members came from “Islamic al Da’awa Party”, and this secret organization dismissed itself before the formation of “Hizbullah”, which was joined by other independent religious ranks, and its slogan was “resisting "Israeli" occupation.”

The eye catching issue was that when Hassan Nasrallah abandoned “Amal” his brother “Hussein” did not follow him, and he until this moment belongs to the movement, and sometime in the past he took the responsibility of Shiyah Sector. However, it seemed that health problems forced him to leave this responsibility.

Hassan Nasrallah is the eldest son of the family of nine boys and girls, where Hussein comes second, then Zeinab (Married), then Fatima who lives with her parents, then Muhammad who practices a different occupation, and Jaafar who is an official employee, and the rest are Zakia, Ameena, and Suad, the three are married.

Initially the family was not very religious, as we indicated earlier, but as time went by the situation improved, Sayyed Hassan said.

All girls are activists in Hizbullah. With respect to the boys, they were all members of Amal in the beginning, but now Hussein is the only one that is left. Muhammad does not practice any politics, but he respects Hizbullah without being one of its members. On the other hand, Jaafar, as Hassan Nasrallah revealed, is unaware of his present trends, because he did not arrange any discussion with him recently.

With respect to the young men who believed in Imam Mousa al Sador, to them he was not the establisher of “Amal” only, rather he, in addition, was somehow the establisher of Hizbullah as well. He was everyone’s guide, and they all regarded him as their father. However, after his disappearance, differences revealed while applying the methods of his teachings.

Hizbullah is developing today, because it is willing to accompany the modern age, especially on the Shiite level.

As always, according to Nasrallah: one must not think that one man, regardless of his sacredness, can monopolize thought, religious knowledge, and political awareness.

The members of Hizbullah believe that the greatest personality of this century without any match is “Imam Khomeini (RIP).” After his death, they started searching for another alive spiritual resource. It was natural to pledge their allegiance to the elected guide and successor of “Khomeini,” Imam Khamenaei. To them, the opinions, thoughts, and views of the past religious resources still hold great values.

When Hizbullah saw the light, Hassan Nasrallah (22-year-old) was not a member of the leadership called “Consultative Council,” He was promoted within the party, and he himself created many jobs. He was a participant in a group that calls up resistants, and then he took the responsibility of Baalbeck sector, and at last al Biqaa sector.

Sometimes he used to head for Beirut with “Sayyed Abraham Ameen Sayyed”, who was assigned as responsible for Beirut area, and Nasrallah was his deputy. After a short period, the party decided to separate the political jobs from the organizing formations on ground, Sayyed Abraham chose the political road, and therefore Nasrallah took his position in Beirut Area. After that a position for general executive official was created, which was assigned to apply the decisions of the “Consultative Council”, and Nasrallah occupied it.

His best wish is becoming a student again:

Despite his commitment to the party, which takes most of his time, Hassan is still insisting on continuing his religious education to become a religious jurisprudent. This is the highest grade where a cleric can depend on his special abilities of knowledge and thoughts to analyze the scripts, and create the religious rules without referring to other religious resources. These clerics are the selective group, which is considered as a spiritual entity within the “Hawza.”

After the "Israeli" invasion Nasrallah was forced to utterly cease his study in order to dedicate his self, body and soul, for the party and the resistance. But after 7 years, in 1989, he decided he was able to resume his education. Given the green light from the party, he headed for Qum, the sacred Iranian city, in order to continue his studies, which he started in Najaf. Many rumors took place due to his leave, where it was said that Nasrallah had arguments with other cadres in Hizbullah.

With the continuation of the arguments between Hizbullah and “Amal Movement,” which changed into a military confrontation in Iqleem el-Tuffah area, Nasrallah decided it was his obligation to return, and the party requested it as well.

Therefore, he again lost his chance in continuing his religious education, and today he still confirms that there is no better wish for him than finding someone inside the party, who would replace and relief him from the responsibility of the “Secretary General” position, in order to become a student again.

He received the leadership of the party and the position of the Secretary General after "Israelis" assassinated Abbass Musawi.

In the past, while he lived in Qum, his assistant Sheikh Naeim Qassim occupied the executive responsibility assigned to him from the Higher Council. After his return, Nasrallah maintained his membership in the leadership, only without any defined responsibility. When his guide sayyed Abbass Musawi was elected later as Secretary General, he assigned Qassim as his deputy, and Nasrallah restored his actual assignments.

In 1992, “Israel” directed a harsh strike to Hizbullah when it assassinated Musawi. Nasrallah, his student, and friend, cried him, and so did the Consultative Council that held a meeting to elect a successor. Hassan Nasrallah was chosen despite the fact he wasn’t the deputy Secretary General, and despite his young age if compared with other members of the leadership. However, sentimental considerations reigned, and as a form of expressing respects towards Musawi, to whom Nasrallah was the closest person, it was said within the party: “Abbass and Hassan or two sides for one coin, they are the same thing.”

Furthermore, the executive official, Hassan Nasrallah, had broad relations with the base, and he had the ability to consolidate the union of the party after the harsh strike it received.

In addition, Nasrallah was the best candidate to invest his friend’s testimony sentimentally for the sake of the cause and the party on a public level.

He said, on the day he was elected inside the Consultative Council he encountered great confusion because he was the youngest, and also he did not have any crucial interception regarding the foreign affairs aspect since his mission was only of an internal organizational description. “However, they insisted.” After his first rejection, his election was confirmed by the “wise men” via a second vote.

The word “Sayyed” is a popular epithet used in Northern Africa to indicate that the person called by this epithet descends from the prophet’s progeny via his father or mother, or if he descends from the children of Hashim. This address separates between those who belong to this progeny and other religious clerics who are addressed by the epithet “Sheikh.” Al Sada (plural for Sayyed), are clerics who wear a black turban as a distinctive sign, and this costume does not express any religious rank.

Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah is a father with a family since 1978. He is married to Fatima Yassin (35-year-old) who comes from “Al Abbasiyee village” (district of Sour). They have three children remained after the martyrdom of the elder son Hadi, who at the age of only 18 was killed, during a fire engagement with the enemy last September. These children are: Muhammad al Jawad (17-year-old), Zeinab (12-year-old), and Muhammad Ali (7-year-old), who celebrated his birthday on November 22, he asked for “Gateau” and they brought it for him. “The school pampered him,” the father said smiling before adding, “it is not bad, it is good for a child to celebrate his birthday.”

After the “memoirs of Sharon” he will read the book of “Netanyahu”:

When sayyed Hassan Nasrallah returns home, he leaves his burdens at the “doorstep,” in order to become a caring husband and father, but also a man who lives his private life and faith.

He reads enormously, especially the memoirs of the political personalities. He has been reading the “memoirs of Sharon” for sometime, and intends to read Netanyahu’s book soon “A Place Under the Sun.” This indicates that he considers the importance of knowing the enemy very well.

Concerning him, the party is not a resistance only. Nowadays, it carries a general political thought that naturally depends on Islam: “With respect to us, briefly, Islam is not a simple religion including only praises and prayers, rather it is a divine message that was designed for humanity, and it can answer any question man might ask concerning his general and private life. Islam is a religion designed for a society that can revolt and build a state.” However, sayyed Hassan Nasrallah added – to be sincere and logic with himself – he cannot deny that Hizbullah has an ambition concerning ideological and theological level to build “an Islamic republic” someday. This is because the party believes that the Islamic state represents the solution for the society, even though the country included multi-social ethnics. However, he clarifies the matter punctually saying it is not our proposal to impose an Islamic republic by force, adding, giving people a chance to decide does not concern only the 51%, rather it must concern almost everyone, such as 90% of the votes. And therefore, establishing an Islamic republic is not proposed at this time.

With respect to Hassan Nasrallah, and according to Islam belief, there are two worlds. Death is nothing but a gate that separates the two worlds. Some will cross it while suffering, whereas others will cross it easily. Martyrdom is the highest example of form to cross into the other world, because it is a different sacrifice.

When man dies as a martyr, it would be as if he enters heaven carrying with him one of the most precious gifts, and this is the reason for receiving him differently. Anyhow, sayyed Hassan Nasrallah gives a note saying that even other nations who do not believe in God hold a special respect for those who give their lives for their people or the cause they serve.

He also clarifies that he, today as any father, misses his elder son “Hadi,” and that he feeds his courage on his absolute conception that the young man is within the most purified goodness of the almighty.

The father indicates that before the martyrdom of Hadi, his picture was hanging in his house only, and now it hangs in each house, “there are many.” And Hassan Nasrallah seems happy to the way in which the life of his elder son ended. He conclude this point clarifying that he lost a dear human being, but he knows that they will meet someday.

With respect to the “charisma” with which they described him he said: naturally he is not in a position to give his opinion, and the judgment is that of others. He clarified that the charisma in general, of the character which one can use to influence others is a divine gift, and can be developed via education and experience. However, education and experience cannot make a person charismatic since this is a talent, Hassan Nasrallah naturally does not seem to lack this magic, and definitely he has high capabilities of the mind.

Perhaps he will return someday to take a seat inside the Quraanic School to become a religious jurisprudent, learning the rules. But until that moment comes, he resides within politics more than religion, in addition to fighting for liberation, and he tries to energize the party. Some might say: “give him democracy” or develop him. However, these meanings do not carry in this case its ordinary indications concerning western inspiration, because Hizbullah remains Islamic, this is its nature, it will remain a resistance, and this is its obligation.

Nasrallah: We attained historic & strategic victory, Hezbollah will drive to repair the damaged homes

Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah declared Monday that his group had won a "strategic, historic victory" in its month-long conflict with "Israel", but said he believes the Lebanese army and international troops are "incapable of protecting Lebanon."
"We are today before a strategic, historic victory, without exaggeration," Nasrallah said in a taped speech on Hezbollah's al-Manar television channel, hours after a United Nations-brokered cease-fire went into effect.
"We came out victorious in a war in which big Arab armies were defeated [before]," he said. Moments after his speech ended, celebratory gunfire erupted across the Lebanese capital.
"We are today before a strategic, historic victory, without exaggeration," Nasrallah said. He called Monday "a
great day."
He declared that it was the "wrong timing" for a public discussion on disarming the guerilla group, saying the issue should be done in secret sessions of the government to avoid serving Israeli interests.
"This is immoral, incorrect and inappropriate," he said. "It is wrong timing on the psychological and moral level particularly before the cease-fire," he said in reference to calls for disarming Hezbollah.
"Who will defend Lebanon in case of a new Israeli offensive?" he asked. "The Lebanese army and international troops are incapable of protecting Lebanon," he said, flanked by Lebanese and Hezbollah flags.
But Nasrallah said he was open to dialogue about Hezbollah's weapons at the appropriate time. And he credited his group's weapons with proving to "Israel" that "war with Lebanon will not be a picnic. It will be very costly."
Nasrallah said the "massive devastation and destruction" inflicted upon Lebanon during the month long war reflected "Israel's" "failure and impotency."
He said that 15,000 housing units had been completely destroyed by "Israeli" forces bombing in Lebanon, and announced a Hezbollah drive to repair the damaged homes.
"The shelling and destruction that "Israel" inflicted on Lebanon is unprecedented, especially in the south and Dahieh," the south Beirut suburbs where Hezbollah's headquarters were bombed in the opening days of the war.

"The enemy destroyed thousands of houses in the south, the Bekaa and the southern suburbs," he said.
Nasrallah called on Lebanese youth to volunteer to help.
"Completing the victory can be done with reconstruction, particularly the houses," he said. "Everyone must enter the battle to rebuild."
He promised his militant organization would help the Lebanese people rebuild, and pledged to give refugees money to pay rent and buy new furniture.
"Starting tomorrow morning, the brothers [Hezbollah members] in the towns and villages will turn to those whose homes are badly damaged and help rebuild them," he said.
"Today is the day to keep up our promises... All our brothers will be in your service starting tomorrow."
Nasrallah, speaking on the day a cease-fire took effect - ending 34 days of fierce fighting between Hizbullah and "Israel" - called Monday "a great day."
He declared that the massive destruction inflicted upon "Israel" was an expression of what he called its "failure and impotency."

OTHER NASRALLAH SPEECHES DURING THE WAR

Saturday, August 12, 2006

Summary: The full text of Hizbullah Secretary-General, his eminence, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah

Peace be upon all of you;
Again, I address you as we approach the end of one month since this hostile and barbaric war was imposed by the Zionists on Lebanon, on each man, stone, position, outpost and slogan in Lebanon. As usual, I wish to touch on several topics pertaining to either the political or the battlefield subject. For a start, I wish to talk about some political developments, after which I will end with the battlefield.

As an introduction to the political situation and developments, we are still relying on a solid and strong reality on the field, attested by the enemy before the ally. Therefore, the points that I will explain regarding the political situation are still based on the truth as well as the strength which is still fighting and confronting in the battlefield.
Since this battle started, we, regarding the political and informative performance, have been dedicated in giving consideration and attention to a group of important and critical basics and aspects. As for us, especially that we are taking part in the political approach or confrontation as they say, since the beginning, we have been stressing on a main principle. This is the unity of line coupled with the national and public solidarity as well as the official solidarity pertaining to the level of the state and its institutes. We also worked on strengthening the position of the state, particularly that of the government pertaining to the negotiations and the preservation of the national rights. As I said in a previous message, founding cooperation is necessary to establish a political will as part of the will of the combat and the public steadfastness in order to depart this battle while maintaining at least our national rights and our national dignity. Therefore, over the past weeks, we stressed on a number of issues. Now, I wish as a start to put emphasis on them.
First: we must not join any political or informative debate with any Lebanese team, party, or figure, regardless of the addressed criticisms or words that may be said. Unfortunately, some people are reiterating exactly what the Israeli officials and press are saying. Nevertheless, I stress on all my brothers as I confirmed in the past not to be engaged in any political or informative debate regarding these matters. Our priority is steadfastness coupled with the political, public and national solidarity that flow in favor of our country's interest in general. The other sensitiveness, obsessions, trivialities and some behaviors that damage the truth and does not serve our country's interest must be overlooked.
Second: What we asked from the émigrés of our good and steadfast citizens, which I confirm now, is to give consideration to the area or atmosphere in which you are existing pertaining to some of the formalisms, customs, traditions, activities, slogans or information. Regarding anything that may provoke any sensitivity in the places of your whereabouts, especially in the areas that embrace you with dignity, honor and responsibility, it is your responsibility as well to give this aspect the necessary consideration because there is someone who from time to time tries to incite certain sensitivities in order to spread weakness, flaw, or certain error in the arena of the steadfastness of the émigrés and displaced people existing in the arena of the public embracement. This issue serves the Israeli at first because any flaw in the front of the steadfastness shortens the distance for the enemy to achieve its goals.
Third: Regarding the city of Beirut in particular, we have already wished and I wish again to say to [requesting] the youth organizations, brothers in the parties and the people in general, we want to avoid any demonstrations or huge rallies so that they will not provide a fertile ground through which some people may sneak in to create a security flaw or to establish opposite slogans. This will lead to divisions on the street. The most important issue regarding this filed resides in our keenness and quest to establish a governmental and political solidarity in the country on the two political and official levels.
Since early days, we learned that the Israelis and Americans had the keenness and worked with dedication to create sedition and division among the Lebanese inside the Lebanese government as well as between the political powers. To prove this issue, we, since early days, found out from our close observation of the Israeli media that some Israeli officials and senior authors of the Israeli journalists have been saying that there were governmental parties in Lebanon contacted them and stressed on them not to stop their attack, and that this was the golden and historic chance to eliminate the resistance in Lebanon, particularly Hizbullah in Lebanon. Naturally, we do not believe this Israeli gossip and we classify it as part of provoking the Lebanese against each other. Another proof was the statement of the US-Zionist ambassador to the UN Security Council John Bolton, yesterday or the day before, when he told one of the US TV stations that when he heard that the Lebanese government had reservations or protests regarding the US-French draft resolution he was surprised at the Lebanese government attitude because he had already made the necessary coordination for this draft or resolution with the Lebanese government and the Israeli as well. We also disregard these words because the aim is to find a crack between the participating forces in the government as well as establishing disunity between the resistance and the state. Anyhow, there are clear and serious attempts on the political and informative level as well as on the provocative. These attempts are being exerted to damage this established solidarity, and they have been evident over the past weeks and days of the present war.
After this point, we acted and behaved with responsibility when the Prime Minister presented the 7-points plan, which was discussed by the cabinet. These points were recorded in the cabinet session's report, yet we all had the same emphasis to present a unanimous approval to this plan in order to face the world with it. I pointed to this issue in a former message and we informatively passed our reservations and remarks. Hence, the Lebanese government presented the 7-points plan to suggest a proposal or a concept regarding the political solution required to stop the aggression and war. After that, we relied on this plan to be presented to the international community and Arab countries. Consequently, the Arab countries came to support and approve the Lebanese governmental 7-points plan, a part of which pertains to the deployment of the army.
Anyhow, the Lebanese government presented the 7-points plan that was faced by the Americans and French via the draft resolution presented to the UNSC. The least one could say regarding this resolution is that it is unfair and inequitable. It also gives the Israelis more than that which they seek. In all cases, we were satisfied with the thorough, strong and solid observation that was presented by parliament speaker Nabih Beri, in his comment on the US-French draft resolution presented to the UNSC. The 7-points plan and Lebanese solidarity were intercepted by this draft, which was prepared to reach a decision. This draft in fact aims to give the Israelis through politics and international pressure that which they could not obtain through fighting. Lebanese, Arab and international quests began in one way or another to modify the US-French draft resolution in the form that will satisfy the Lebanese demands, in accordance with the governmental 7-points plan. Anyhow, as this political and diplomatic quest and as this political and diplomatic great battle go on, he who sides by Lebanon will be distinguished from he who utterly prefers "Israel" to Lebanon.
Keeping in line with these political quests, we were told that the government had the initiative to gather in order to take and announce a decision pertaining to the deployment of the army at the borderline, knowing that the Lebanese army is present in the south, south Litany. Some people, when they speak, they say the deployment of the army in the south. In fact, the army as an army is not present near the borderline where there are Lebanese security forces of the Internal Security and some of the Lebanese army intelligence and security apparatuses. Therefore, the government expressed its willingness to send 15000 soldiers of the Lebanese army to be deployed in the entire area. They said that this will help Lebanon enormously as it will help the friends of Lebanon to pressurize further regarding the amendment of the draft resolution that is being prepared and discussed by the UNSC. And that it will open the way for a suitable political approach that will lead to the stopping of the aggression on Lebanon. Nevertheless, despite the fact that the Lebanese government declared its decision and willingness, which came out of unanimity, knowing that many people focus on this world of unanimity, the result until now tells us that the US administration is still insisting on its terms and adheres to its arrogance and immoderation. Today in particular, it sent Mr. Walsh to Lebanon, synchronizingly with the Israeli government's decision to widen its ground offensive. Their aim is to frighten and pressurize the Lebanese government and people so that they accept the new old terms which Walsh brought to Lebanon.
Anyhow, regarding the political issue, there is a point on which I would like to comment and give answers because it brought questions to the politicians and media means. This point is worthy of explanation and clarification. It pertains to our position on the deployment of the army at the borderline area. We, in the past, used to oppose the deployment of the army at the borderline, not because we doubt the army, God forbid; this army is a national army and we have been praising it and praising its dogma, leadership and combination since many years. We expressed, in more than one occasion, our trust in the army and its leadership, officers and soldiers. This army is also part of this nation; it derives from its men, youths and children. It does not differ from the reality and essence of this high-esteemed and loyal nation. When we protested or expressed our reservations, it was not because we fear this army. This is because this is a national army and the children of this nation must not fear it. In fact, we used to fear for the army from its deployment at the international borderline. The issue is very clear. If you station a regular army at the international border facing directly the enemy that could anytime attack it, it means that we are stationing this army right inside the mouth of the dragon; are as popularly said, "Inside the muzzle of the cannon." An army that does not possess tanks, armored machines, air force, or sufficient air cover, can be at risk of being destroyed in a very few days once attacked at any moment. The battles that took place in the south until now emphasize this issue. The resistance lasted until now in Ayta Shaab, Kfarkila, Adayse, Taybe, Bint Jbail, Aytaroun and all the front villages was because it does not have a classical and regular presence. Instead, it has a qualitative way of being existent and does not have any air cover. The Israeli enemy can strike and destroy but it cannot nail the determination of the mujahideen nor can it limit their ability to move. We fear for the army of being at the frontline.
Why now we agree with the government? I will return to explain the considerations on the deployment of the army at the borderline. Still, we cannot hide our fear for the army after its deployment at the frontline with its present condition and capacity, especially that the sticking points between Lebanon and the Israeli enemy remain unresolved, particularly Lebanon's continual vulnerability to the unstoppable Israeli land, sea and air violations since the Israeli withdrawal in 2000 until today. Deployment means placing the army inside the mouth of the dragon. This is why we fear for the army. There is another fear which we also used to express openly. We used to say that when the army goes to the border, it must protect Lebanon and defend the homeland; and that it must not protect the enemy. Anyhow, this assignment, the mission of guarding the homeland or guarding the enemy is not tied to the decision of the army command. Instead, it is tied to the decision of the political authority.
Now, in its latest meeting, the Lebanese government said and decided that the main task of the army was to defend and guard the homeland through its existence at the border as well as maintain internal security. If there is a clear decision, this fear becomes nonexistent. Moreover, if everyone believes that the army deployment helps finding a political exit that would lead to the stopping of the aggression, this will be a dignified national exit with respect to us because the one that will be deployed at the border is the national army, not invading forces, mercenaries, or forces that work under the command of the enemies. It will be the national army that works under the command of the elected Lebanese government. This exit, in this sense, is accepted despite its adversities which I mentioned earlier. We will not stand as an obstacle in the way of any decision or option of this sort.
These are the facts; the deployment of the Lebanese army will maintain the sovereignty and independence. This is the best and most suitable alternative instead of the international forces-we do not know under whose command they will operate and what is their mission and job that they will perform. Yes, we said, as it was unanimous through the 7 points, that the enhancement of the UNIFEL forces will work as a supportive agent for the Lebanese army to perform its task and duty. There are several issues that have been reiterated pertaining to the stage that will follow the deployment of the army in the borderline area, or in fact, completing the deployment of the army in the area south Litany River. I will not discuss this issue at present; I will leave it to be discussed internally because it fountains from our caution, responsibility and solidarity required at this stage for several reasons. Therefore, we at present, although there is a Lebanese national unanimity on the government's plan with its adherence to the 7 points, find that the Americans keep defusing any possibility in reaching a draft resolution that may take into consideration the Lebanese national demands and rights. The American keeps working hard to impose "Israel's" terms on Lebanon in order to achieve all the interests of "Israel" at the expense of the interest of Lebanon.
At this point, I would like to call again on the political willpower and political steadfastness as well as avoid submission to the US dictations and pressures regardless of their kinds and regardless of the situation on the field, which is solid and strong. I will talk on this issue in a moment. I call on the Lebanese government to further political steadfastness with adherence to the 7 points on which we agreed as Lebanese. This is because any overlooking of the items of this plan, which was regarded in our opinion that it maintains the minimum level of the national rights and demands, is a betrayal of the unanimity to which we have been keen throughout all the past stages.
This is where I reach the point of the environments of the existing war, the battlefield. In my last televised speech, I said that the enemy will, as a result of the military failures that are still continuing until now, seek refuge at further bombardment of the infrastructure and civilian foundations as well as will attack civilians. These issues are in fact occurring. There are further massacres extending from Bekaa, to Sheyah, to Ghaziye as well as other countless places. This is where the lies of the Zionists manifest. These lies are reiterated by the enemy leaders and officials. For example, their press said, as it was repeated yesterday by the Israeli ambassador to the UN, which they are bombing this or that place because there are missiles launching pads which Hizbullah uses. Were these missiles launching pads present among the people in the procession in Ghaziye, where the enemy shelled Ghaziye at the same time when the people were bidding farewell to the martyrs? Was the residential neighborhood in Sheyah that is crowded with families, men, women and children harboring missile launching pads on top of the buildings, launching missiles on the Zionists? These are nothing but words and meaningless claims. They are deliberately killing innocent civilians, men, women and children because the only way possible for this militarily incapacitated savage enemy is bloodshed in order to pressurize the Lebanese and the resistance as well as the state. They keep striking the residencies and systemically destroying the buildings and houses in the southern suburb. For example, there are empty buildings, yet the enemy comes everyday to demolish a number of buildings.
Aren't these war crimes? Isn't the killing of women and children a war crime? They are killing children who have no relation to Hizbullah leaders or fighters. Isn't the constant destruction of the remaining infrastructure a war crime? Who can believe that all these bridges, roads and infrastructure have been destroyed merely to prevent lines of provision to the resistance? Is this issue logic? The only aim behind the destruction of man kind and infrastructure is to pressurize the Lebanese. Killing the civilians pressurizes the Lebanese. Destroying the houses pressurizes the Lebanese. They want to pressurize the Lebanese to force them surrender and submit to the Israeli terms for which this war was mainly started. In fact, it is pitiful, regretful but ordinary when we see a draft resolution inside the UNSC that does not contain any blame to the Zionists for their perpetrations, war crimes, massacres, and genocides in Lebanon coupled with the systematic destruction in Lebanon. Imagine, capturing two Israeli soldiers, which is a mere military operation, deserves all this condemnation and censure from the international community whereas the retaliation that goes extreme in destroying the structure, killing man kind, and exceeding all laws and customs does not even deserve a blame.
We are not surprised because the UNSC cannot even condemn "Israel's" killing of its soldiers who are operating as part of its forces in south Lebanon. Certainly this council, helpless in condemning "Israel" for the massacre of Qana, will be helpless, because of the utter US Veto, in blaming "Israel" for all the barbaric actions in this present war. There are two examples from which we can learn brothers and sisters. First, we must understand that this enemy is of a hostile, savage and barbaric nature; we are living next to it and they want us to live with it in peace. Live in peace next to the killer of the women, killer of the children, and monstrous destroyer of the houses, which regards no limits in its barbaric monstrosity. The barbarism of this enemy is boundless. Second, we must understand the UNSC that does not possess any ability and capacity in protecting Lebanon; and that all the present plans, discussions and decisions focus on how can "Israel" be protected, not how can Lebanon be protected. Keep this lesson in mind.
I reach the direct reality on the field. I say yes, we are maintaining our steadfastness on the battlefield. We are still strong. This is a great achievement for the resistance and a huge failure for the enemy pertaining to its declared aims towards the resistance. We are still fighting at the front villages, frontlines, knowing that we are not bind by the geography. However, the heroic fighters are determined to maintain their positions and fight until the last bullet. They will fight as long as there is one bullet, one bomb, one rocket, and as long as there is a possibility to fight. They are still fighting. Imagine, as I speak, the fighting goes on in Ayta Shaab town, directly at the border. The same situation exists in the rest of the front villages. Your children and brothers, the mujahideen in the resistance, are in fact making miracles and presenting a struggling example, heroic example, courageous example, which is peerless in history and present time.
We are fighting in the front towns as well as the frontlines. Yesterday, the mujahideen or freedom fighters of the Islamic Resistance attacked an Israeli outpost in Jal El-Alam, right at the border, and they were also engaged in a fight in Labouna. They caused casualties in the enemy lines. Your struggling brothers are still fighting and taking the initiative at the frontlines and front positions. The Israelis can sneak at night into some valleys and make airdrops in some rear lines. But soon afterwards the mujahideen discover them, attack and cause casualties in them. Today, the Israelis admit that they are transporting provision and aid via the helicopters and animals. This is because the movement of their vehicles and armors is open in the southern soil. It makes them an easy hunt for the mujahideen of the resistance.
This is the reality on the field. Until now, there are a large number of Merkava tanks that have been destroyed. This detail is important. I must mention that more than 60 Merkava tanks have been destroyed until now with a large number of military bulldozers, soldier carriers. The sum exceeds 100 tanks, soldier carriers and military bulldozers of the destroyed machines. I am not talking about the dead settlers or the wounded settlers. I am only talking about the officers and soldiers. More than 100 officers and soldiers have been killed until now in the battles. More than 400 officers and soldiers have been wounded until now in the battles. Tens of them are critical as the enemy admitted. This pertains to the confrontations on the battlefield.
Regarding the ballistic bombardment, the efficiency of the resistance remains the same as it was in the early days. Moreover, when Olmert said that Hizbullah is no longer as it used to be, your children and brethren of the Islamic Resistance replied by firing more than 350 missiles that fell on the different military bases and Zionist settlements in north Occupied Palestine. Until now, he failed in weakening this ballistic capacity available for Hizbullah and the resistance. This will cause longer stay of the settlers in those areas inside shelters and a large number of them will migrate. This is also causing great damage to the economy, finance, material and humans, which the enemy keeps hiding.
Know this, throughout the Arab wars, the Israelis used to say what they had and the Arabs used to hide what they have. On the other hand, today, when Lebanon is bombed or when buildings are destroyed, people martyred, massacres perpetrated, despite the negative rare influence of these scenes, yet we say what we have, but the Zionists conceal today what they have. They are hiding everything. Where are the hundreds of rockets falling? Until now they are saying that more than 3000 rockets have fallen on them. I assure to you that these rockets are divinely aimed as they are technically aimed. They are not striking randomly. But the Israelis are applying a metallic cover on the media. Yes, sometimes they circulate through some media means that a rocket fell on an empty road or forest or valley in order to nail the determination of the freedom fighters and say that their missiles are useless. If the resistance missiles are useless, let the media means and world reporters take pictures of all the places that were targeted by the resistance missiles. Until now, as it really happens in Lebanon, the journalists visit all the areas and take pictures to reveal to the world where exactly the tons of explosives, which the enemy warplanes drop, are falling.
Anyhow, today, the smaller Zionist cabinet appeared with a decision to widen the ground offensive synchronizingly with the visit of the US Secretary of State aide, Mr. Walsh to Beirut. Is this decision part of the psychological war to pressurize the Lebanese and make them accept that which Mr. Walsh brought to them? Alternatively, is this decision serious and real for the ground? What are the limits of this decision? Do they want to expand further to reach to Litany River? Anyhow, the Israelis have been unable until now to control the borderline area, which they said they want to take it back to its past stage. I said that the fighting is still ongoing in Jal El-Alam, Labouna, and the frontlines and front positions. The enemy might focus on Taybe front because it is the nearest to the Litany River, after which it will say to the world we reached the Litany River. The separating distance between Galil Finger and Litany River from Taybe side is simple and modest.
Anyhow, I say to the Zionists, you can come to any place, you can invade, and you can drop your air-borne forces and enter this village or that point. This is nothing new. I will repeat. All this issue will be very costly for you. You cannot stay on our soil. If you enter our precious southern land we will turn it into a cemetery for the Zionist invaders. Those who are fighting you at the frontlines are fighting you with courage. We will wait you at each village, each highland, and each valley. And in each stage, thousands of freedom fighters will be waiting for your. These fighters are ready, determined, and courageous. They are keen like their brothers who are fighting at the frontlines in the battlefield. This is what is waiting for you. This is what we love and want. We want the aggression in its entirety to stop. But should there be a combat, you are welcome to the combat on the battlefield, which is occurring as I speak. You are the cowardly ones who are killing our old men, women and children, destroying our houses. On the other hand, we are killing your officers and soldiers, destroying your tanks and bases. This is the reality on the field, which honors us. We are facing you with this reality.
In conclusion, I wish to confirm to the Lebanese people first and the government. In spite of the suffering of the émigrés and steadfast civilians, Lebanon still relies on a strong reality on the field. The enemy is the one that is confused, helpless and unsuccessful until now. There is an unprecedented procedure that took place, where the enemy discharged the commander of the northern region and assigned the deputy chief of staff of the enemy army to lead the front. This is an important and serious development which the military experts understand well. I call on the Lebanese people and government to further steadfastness as the resistance is steadfast. And I call on our displaced citizens as well as those who are sheltering them to further patience. This is because you, particularly after all these sacrifices, have expressed, said, and rejected contempt, humiliation and submission. We cannot let the enemy achieve its interests at the expense of the sacrifices and blood of the martyrs. All that the enemy has seen from us until now is, I will say what the master of the martyrs and our leader Sayyed Abbas Al-Musawi said, "Until now, you have seen a fraction of our adversity". You are welcome to the wide ground offensive in which you will see all of our adversity, God willing.
To the Arabs of Haifa, I have a special message. We have grieved and we are grieving for your martyrs and wounded people. I beg you and address you asking you to leave this city. I hope you will do so. Over the past period, your presence and your misfortune rendered us hesitate in targeting this city, despite the fact that the southern suburb and Lebanese depth were being shelled and Haifa was or was not being shelled. I hope that you will relieve us from this hesitation and save your souls which are our souls. Leave this city.
To each mujahid of the resistance, to each mujahid who is still fighting, to each mujahid who lies in wait, to all the heroic lively fighters who have been true to their covenant with God, never changed (their determination) in the least and will never change, God willing, I read to them the words of their prince (p): "Fix your foot on the ground. The mountains may vanish but you may not. Lend you mind to God. Look at the far lines of the people. And knoweth that there is no help but from God, the Exalted. Brothers, you've done well. Until now you've made miracles and became the legend. The world in its entirety is observing you. All the nobles in this world are observing you. The nation and the Lebanese people are betting on you. The families of the departed martyrs, the wounded and the people who are enduring the suffering of displacement and steadfastness with all the free people are observing you. You are as you were, as you said and as we say: you are the hope, you are the venture, and you are the imminent victory. We pray for you and we are with you. May God help you, fix you, cherish you, and provide you with victory. You are the noblest of God's creatures. Along your side we have seen only victory, pride and dignity. The end of this battle will only bring degradation, humiliation and defeat to our enemies the Zionists as well as to all of those who are satisfied with their hostility and are betting on the aggression of these Zionists, who spread mischief on earth, the killers of the prophets.
May peace be upon all of you.

Full text of 2nd Sayyed Nasrallah speech:
We will resort to all possible means of defense to defeat "Israel"
Number of missiles we have fired so far is extremely insignificant proportional to what we have
The secretary-general of Hizbullah, His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, declared in a speech today that the party would resort to all possible means of defense, promising Israel, which chose an open war, defeat. Only hours after the Second Israeli television channel announced he was injured in a bombing raid, His eminence said to the Israelis in his audio-visual address: "I bring you news of your defeat ". He also said: "we will resort to every defense means possible, so long as this enemy practices uncontainable aggression devoid of any red lines."
Sayyed Nasrallah added: "We still have our full strength and force. We will choose the place and the time. Meanwhile, we continue to manage our affairs in a rigorous and systematic manner, that is least expected by the enemy, whose behavior is based on making these days harsh, in the hope they will cause disintegration at our leadership and base levels, the thing which has not happened."
Nasrallah also said: "The main points of our strength are that the enemy, unaware of our capabilities, bases its estimates on erroneous as well as incorrect information, and resorts to lies."
His eminence said: "We will carry on so long as they are the ones who chose this open war (...) when the enemy acts as if there are no limits or red lines, we are then entitled to the same right." In reference to Hizbullah military capabilities, he said "we have considerably a lot more and we are still at the beginning of the confrontation". Threatening to "resort to every means possible to defend ourselves", he said: "our arsenal which you have always been mindful of is still present, and the number of missiles fired is only very small in comparison."
The Secretary-General of Hizbullah said that "during the first days of the Israeli military operation in Lebanon, the party remained calm and precise, avoiding non-military targets. However, the Israeli army targeted Lebanese villages, towns and civilians", pointing out that "the Israelis mistook our patience". He also talked of Hizbullah military achievements in targeting Israeli military post, adding that today he had to "honour the promise" of shelling Haifa city. However, he said "we deliberately avoided the petrochemical plants in Haifa, which fall within our missiles range, only to make sure our weapon remains one for deterrence rather than vengeance."
His eminence added: "By no means should this avoidance be taken as our permanent course of action". Nasrallah also promised "surprises in land confrontations, which we anxiously await", pointing out that "any land advancement is a good omen to the resistance because it will bring us closer to the victory and to humiliating enemy soldiers."
In addressing the Lebanese Sayyed Nasrallah said "do not be concerned by what the enemy war machine destroys." Also, he indicated that "what gets destroyed will be built in cooperation with the Lebanese state." He added: "We have true friends able to assist us with clean and dignified money, free of any political price (...) what is important, is to emerge victorious from this battle."
He then directed his speech to the Arab people saying "he does not ask for relief or assistance", adding that "Hizbullah is not fighting Hizbullah battle, or Lebanon, but the battle of the nation" and wondered "where this nation is, in relation to this battle?"
Here is the text of the appeal: "Through this address I make on this day, Sunday, to touch on some points related to the battlefield and some important political points, the current delicate and crucial stage require handling them.
First of all and in relation to the field events, from the beginning we said that we are confronting this assault calmly and meticulously. In this context, we made clear stances and gave forewarnings.
On the first day our missiles were focused on shelling military sites only, excluding Israeli settlements and colonies in north occupied Palestine. Yet, the enemy army, unable to confront our warriors, started from the first day targeting towns, villages, civilians, civilian installations and infrastructure.
Nonetheless we continued our fight against soldiers in the south and military sites in occupied north Palestine, where significant successful strikes took place, particularly against command headquarters of various brigades in "Israel" northern region, such as the Northern Area Command, the marine forces command and the air force operations command; operations on these levels were highly successful.
Yet in contrast, Zionist campaigns focused on civilians and civilian installations. They tried to make an advance in Ayta Shaab area, where our Mujahideen warriors confronted them destroying one of the most technologically advanced Israeli tanks. Other tanks intervened, they too were destroyed. A third tank joined the confrontation and it too was hit. This incident was an occasion to demonstrate the strength of Israeli land forces on the edge of Mount Aamel, who targeted Lebanon main cities, villages and killed people in their homes. In this town they shelled a house killing a father, a mother and the children. They even reached a level of killing displaced people on the move from Marwaheen village ... women and children, and their bombing destroyed a number of villages, especially in the southern suburb.
This enemy seems to have misinterpreted the patience we expressed in these first few days."
He added: "In truth, we have been patient in the face of this assault, and only retaliated against the military in order to emphasize that our battle is against the military, even though we consider everyone in "Israel" partner in their crime, but so long as there was no need to attack civil targets, we will not.
We waited and made another accomplishment when we hit the Israeli Navy warship off the coast of Beirut, in a clear signal that we are punishing those who bombed our cities and infrastructure.
But with the Zionists, carelessly exceeding the proper limits of engagement, their inability to read current events has pushed them to continue their extensive assaults of South Lebanon and Bakaa, especially the cities of Baalbek and Hermel and to take the choice of hitting the newly built infrastructure.
Today we were left with no choice but to deliver on the promise of shelling the city of Haifa. We know the importance and the gravity of this city. Had we aimed missiles at the chemical plants, a major disaster would have struck that region, but we deliberately spared these plants from our missile-range in the interests of restrain rather than pushing matters into the unknown. To make certain, our weapon is not one of revenge but deterrence, to inject some reason and deliberation back into the heads of the lunatics in Olmert government, and rid them of hang-ups of arrogance and tyranny, even idiocy, their specialty.
Just avoiding such targets, does not mean we will continue down this course of response. We may, at any moment, consider it our duty to protect our homeland, people and families and resort to any means possible to provide such protection.
So long as the enemy practices this level of aggression without hindrance or restraint, we will therefore go to the same level in our defense, relinquishing limits and red lines".
He went on to say: "Oh dear people whom I address with this speech, after this battlefield account, I wish to assure you of some points. Thanks to Allah/God we are still with all our strength and energy. We are the ones who choose the time and place. This enemy cannot impose on us the method or time of when we use our weapons. We continue to manage our affairs in a rigorous and systematic manner, something least expected by the enemy, whose behavior is based on making the first days harsh, in the hope they will cause disintegration at leadership and base levels, which has not happened. The main points of our strength are that the enemy is unaware of our capabilities and bases its estimates on erroneous as well as incorrect information, and resorts to lies."
For example, on the first day all targets hit by "Israel" in the southern towns are civilian population targets, free of any missile bases, rocket caches or anything the "Israelis" claimed. "Israelis" even came out claiming that the larger bulk of Hizbullah missile strength was destroyed on the first day. I say to the Israeli army: you are wrong and so is the information you possess, since those you killed are civilian inhabitants, women and children, the houses you demolished are civilian homes free of any missiles that you talk about. The arsenal which you have always been mindful of, still exists, and the number of missiles fired is only very small in comparison, and our ability to launch a great deal more still exists."
He added: "Today, the Zionists build their calculations on the basis of that which occurred in Haifa or Acre or beyond Haifa. You believe you can base your battle on this ground, hence I herald your defeat Allah/ God willing, because this increases our optimism, strength and belief in our ability to confront you. I will also say to the people of the Zionist entity that what frightens or even terrifies your government and army from the "Grapes of Wrath" experience, is that the entirety of the battle they fought, was on the basis that all the Katyushas the resistance in Lebanon possessed, did not exceed 500 rockets, only to discover that the information was wrong.
Here I stress that the Israeli enemy has no idea what our capabilities are or what we have on every level, which is the most important point of strength we are proud to possess in the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon. In Lebanon we are proud that our security is not breached. We are proud that we have been building on more than one level, with the required silence and confidentiality, for we were preparing the necessary precautions for the day when Israel will try to avenge the defeat Lebanon inflicted on it."
He said: "In the next phase we will carry on so long as they are the ones who declared this open war. Yet, we will practice extreme caution to avoid civilians unless we are forced to do so.
During the recent period, even now, while able to strike every settlement, village and major city, in occupied North Palestine to say the least, we only used such an option to apply pressure on the enemy government; even when forced to strike civil targets.
When the Zionists in their conduct abandoned all rules, red lines and limits of engagement, it becomes our right to respond in like fashion too."
He pointed out that the "Israelis today speak of heavy shelling. Is what went down in the past few days called mild bombing? Is that level of devastation wreaked by the Israelis in buildings, cities and villages and on the day before yesterday in the southern suburbs (Aldahia), where neighbourhoods were destroyed? The entire world saw the level of destruction, even when we had reservations at initial stages regarding some of the images the world began to see.
But will this limit our resolve and will power or change our decision? Never. Anyway, we will go on and we have a great deal more, we are still at the beginning. The Zionists will come to see, again and again, the truth in what I say to and promise them."
He further pointed out: "there is talk going on today in Zionist circles about the idea of a land infiltration towards some locations. They made an attempt at the current post in Ayta Shaab, but quickly retreated. We heard today that they had resorted to some of internationally banned weapons. In all cases, we are presently located in the south ever ready and impassionedly waiting to confront and deal them a defeat Allah/God willing.
Here I do not speak of people looking for martyrdom, but hoping for victory. They want to present a new scene of victory against this enemy, thus just like we surprised in Haifa, we will again beyond Haifa. I also promise them surprises at various confrontation levels we impatiently wait for with great hope, as it will allow us to directly retaliate against enemy tanks and soldiers, against those now hiding in fortified castles and fighter jets of the strongest air force in the region. Any overland advances will be the harbinger of a victory drawing nearer to the resistance and humiliation to the Israeli soldiers, similar to the humiliation they received in the last few days...."
He added: I say to the good honourable steadfast people whom we heard through the media during these days, we heard their patience, support, backing and love: you are truly a great people, this is not a word of exaggeration or a flattering remark. You are a historic people on whom hopes hang for delivering not only Lebanon, but this entire nation (Ummah) out of disgrace and shame to rekindle hope within it".
He went on to say: "Again I say to you, we will be victorious with your support, embrace, love, goodness and steadfast stance. We will certainly coordinate with the institutions of the Lebanese government to rebuild demolished buildings and places Allah/God willing, but in this context I say to you not to be concerned over what this "Israeli" war destroys. We only wish speedy recovery for the wounded, and a long healthy life for the living, but as far as what gets demolished and destroyed, Allah/God willing in coordination with the Lebanese government will be rebuilt, but as a concerned side, we are determined to take the rebuilding process seriously.
I say this without going into details, for in this domain we have serious friends too, with extremely great capabilities, with clean, pure and honourable money that is free of political conditions.
Do not be concerned over rebuilding our homeland. What is important is to be steadfast now and emerge victorious from this battle."
He directed a word to the peoples of the Arab and Islamic worlds: "The enemy now is resorting to lies and a lot of psychological warfare. This is very natural, especially with an enemy of this kind. For example, they tried to say at the outset that there no frigate was destroyed at sea, but later admitted it. I assured you and we have proof that confirms this boat was struck by a direct hit with two rockets. The attempt to say the resistance missiles targeted a commercial vessel, will prove an "Israeli" lie, just like the other lies that were proven and continue to be. If we assume that a commercial vessel was targeted or hit, certainly what was targeted is the Israeli warship."
He added: "With regards to the existence of Iranian soldiers who were able to launch these missiles, Israeli reconnaissance planes flew over the area where the rockets were fired from and was accompanying every move. How could that narrow circle widen to include Iranian soldiers?
In any case I categorically deny the existence of any Iranian soldiers in this operation or in others.
Those with experience using these capabilities currently available to Hizbullah are Lebanese, sons of the Lebanese from Lebanese families. While they speak of Iranians and Iranian soldiers, they may speak of North Korean, Japanese and Russians too, even Chinese and the like, in order to underrate and make little of our abilities. The "Israelis" always and consistently act towards the Lebanese and Arab peoples as of a low level, that we do not have the competence, the capacity nor the required expertise for a confrontation of this type of lies used by the Zionists in this war.
This is an issue I certainly wanted to make clear a, thus, God willing, in the next stage with the help of these honourable Lebanese Mujahideen warriors we will be able to continue our battle to defeat our enemy."
He then directed his speech to the peoples of the Arab and Islamic worlds: "to make clear the responsibilities ahead of them, I am not in the process of making an appeal, nor a call for assistance or make any requests. This was our undertaking, which we agreed to the brothers and me from the moment the "Faithful Pledge" operation took place and the ensuing confrontations, not to ask anyone for anything, though a great many have contacted us and offered their services. We said we are not asking for anything, nor have we requested anything on the financial level, political level, media or military level.
We certainly appeal to Allah/God praise and glory to him, because we believe in him and in his ability, greatness and the promise of victory he makes the believers "For us God sufficeth, and He is the best disposer of affairs" (Quran 3: 173). We do not address the Lebanese and Arab peoples to ask them for help, for we are a thousand times well, thanks to Allah/God in a very strong position at the beginning of a confrontation, upon which a great deal of hope we invest.
But I want to put a responsibility on you, especially the Arab peoples. See the results of the Arab Ministerial Council and what came out of the Arab League. They themselves spoke of the failure of the so-called peace process. It was also clear that they are incapable of doing anything as governments and leaders.
In any case, it is your. The Arab and Muslim peoples concern to take a stand for your afterlife, if you believe in life after, for your life in this world, your destiny, your honour, your future and the future of your children.
In other words, the scene now is this: should "Israel" inflict a defeat, Allah/God forbid, against the resistance in Palestine or the resistance in Lebanon, then Arab world governments and peoples, will drown in eternal disgrace and degradation without no way out. The Zionists and those who are behind them, American masters, will stand higher over and above the Arab governments and people. American and Israeli interference in the affairs of these peoples and governments will get worse Looting our resources will grown greater and so will the deforming of our culture, civilization and the dismantling of this region, dividing it and pushing it towards internal strife.
Today, the Arab and Islamic nation faces an historic opportunity to unite, as a way out of the plot of fragmentation through sectarian and civil wars pushed onto the peoples of the region by America.
Today, the peoples of the Arab world stand at the threshold of an historic opportunity to accomplish an historic victory over the Zionist enemy; it is not a question of who imposes their conditions over "Israel". Today there is a big chance and I am not exaggerating.
In year 2000, we in Lebanon presented a model of a resistance capable of winning against the army of state, with modest means and efforts, together with a few faithful warriors (Mujahideen), equipment and materials.
Today, we offer a model and with us the Lebanese people and all of Lebanon even if we are the ones who now represent the spearhead. The village, town or district, attributed to us is being targeted by killing and destruction. When we are the focus of the attack, we are trying to offer another example of steadfastness and resistance, a model of endurance, ability and courage, capable of dealing a defeat to the enemy, in a disproportionate battle, but in spirit and morale, will and wisdom, in planning and in putting our trust in Allah/God praise and glory to him, this battle is unequal to our favor.
Where are you, the Arab and Islamic peoples? What will you do, how will you conduct yourself? This is your concern.
As far as we are concerned, when we started in the resistance in year 1982, we did not look outside the border. We relied on Allah/God only, on our people, the faithful warriors (Mujahideen) and ourselves as well. But what I wanted to say in this delicate moment after so many military accomplishments in these days, and after the many surprises, that Hizbullah is not fighting Hizbullah battle, or Lebanon now, but the battle of the nation, whether we like it or not, whether the Lebanese like it or not.
Now, Lebanon and the resistance in Lebanon are engaged in the battle of the nation. Where is this nation in relation to this battle?
This question is posed to you for the sake of your life in this world and your afterlife".
He concluded: "Brothers and sisters, especially the steadfast people in Lebanon, the steadfast people in Palestine, and the honourable fighters, put your trust in Allah/God, and seek his assistance for he is the Oft-supporter and Oft-helper."

Historic full text of Hizbullah Secretary-General speech addressed to the nation, Lebanese people, resistance fighters, Zionists and Arab rulers

Friday, 14 July 2006?

The following is the content of the appeal Hizbullah Secretary-General, His eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah made this evening:?

May Allah`s peace, mercy and blessings be upon you … If God helps you, none can overcome you … (Sura 3 Ayah 160)?

"To begin with and in my first address after “the Truthful Promise” operation and the ensuing events, I give my blessings and condolences to the families

of the martyrs, who gave their dearest loved ones in these cruel and difficult days, offering everything in this most honourable confrontation known, not

only to modern times but to the entire history. I would also like to pay tribute to the wounded, praying to Allah the Holy and exalted to grant them speedy

recovery and wellness.?

I would also like to salute the people steadfast in all cities and villages standing firm in their land, emboldened in their faith. My greetings go also

to my brothers the resistance fighters, patient worriers, stationed on all lines of defense, every ready and willing to offer sacrifice for what they believe

in, standing tall high in pride by holding their blood in their palms."?

In the first speech these days after the "The Truthful Promise" operation, I would like to say a few words. With this speech I would like to address the

Lebanese people, members of the resistance, the Zionists and a word to Arab rulers and I will not address the international community because contrary

to the belief held by many among us, I have never believed, not for a day that there is something called international community.?

Firstly: I say to the Lebanese people, oh dear people, who embraced the resistance, which won by your embrace and in turn you vectored by the resistance

on May 25, 2000. This people who produced the first Arab victory in the history of the conflict with the Israeli enemy in spite of a profound unevenness

in equipment and forces, despite being abandoned by the majority of our Arab brothers, the majority of Muslim brothers and the silence of the entire world.

The Lebanese people created a miracle victory that stunned the world and humiliated the Zionists, these Zionists who distinctively view these people in

particular, for the special and distinctive accomplishment they made in the history of this conflict.?

The battle today is no longer a battle of prisoners and exchange of prisoners. It may be said that the Zionist enemy makes a reaction. Any capture operation

carried out anywhere in the world against any army or state with borders and controls, but what is happening today is not a reaction to soldiers in captivity.

It is a settling of accounts with the people and the resistance, the state, the army and the political forces, the regions, villages and the families that

have slapped this usurper entity with a historic defeat this aggressor was not used to.?

Hence, today is an all-out war waged by the Zionists to settle scores with Lebanon, the Lebanese people, the State of Lebanon, the Lebanese Army and the

resistance of Lebanon to avenge the achievement of 25 May 2000.?

He added: "Oh people, dear, steadfast, loyal, faithful fighters, honest and noble people, whom I know in your overwhelming majority to be in mind and at

heart, by will and culture, in thought, love, passion and by sacrifice to be a people of dignity, pride and honor, rather than a people of collaboration,

subordination, disgrace and degradation and submissiveness.?

I say to you, in this confrontation we are faced with two options, not only as Hizbullah or resistance, but as Hizbullah’s resistance, Lebanon the nation,

people, army and political forces we are faced with two options, we either succumb to the conditions dictated by today`s Zionist enemy on all of us, under

American, international and unfortunately Arab pressure, endorsement and support; to either succumb to its full terms of appending Lebanon to the Israeli

age and hegemony. Quite frankly this is the size of the matter.?

The other option is to steadfastly stand up, be patient and face the situation, and I, in putting my faith and trust in almighty and exalted Allah/God,

with my confidence in him and in our resistance warriors, together with my knowledge of our people and of this enemy, as I have promised you victory before,

I promise you victory now again.?

During the assaults in the ‘Grapes of Wrath` in 1996, or ‘Settling Accounts’ in 1993, when initially the enemy had the upper hand and our circumstances

were difficult. In contrast, today’s situation is different and confide in me when I say the situation is quite different.?

What is needed today is to be patient, simply wait, stand up and be united. I know and I wager that the majority of our people are a resistance people who

struggle and do not need psyching up, and what I am saying is only to formulate the complete idea and to affix the option and confirm this definition.?

As for the words to the members of the resistance I say, these dear and loved brothers, upon whom depends every Lebanese, all Palestine, every Arab, every

Muslim, every free and honourable person in this world, every oppressed and vulnerable and tortured person, every lover of steadfastness, courage, chivalry,

values and honour, which they are the embodiment and manifestation of, through their presence in the fields of confrontation against this enemy, in their

fight as the brave heroes that they are.?

To them I say: today you are what we depend on after almighty Allah/God the exalted, we and our nation depends on you, you are our honour title, our dignity

is held and preserved in you and this dignity is kept alive by you. You were the source of year 2000 accomplishment; you were, after Allah/God the glorious,

the origin of that achievement.?

Today, preserving this victory is your purpose before anyone else’s, preserving the liberation, the steadfastness and dignity requires of you exactly what

you have already proven until now. These days you are the subject of any wagering. Anyone who counts on you after Allah will have his concerns dissipated,

with victory as the good and clear ending, inevitably triumphant.?

As for the Zionists, to the people of the Zionist entity in this hour I say: you will quickly discover, how senseless and stupid your new government and

new leadership is, and how fallible is their estimation of things, with no experience whatsoever on this level.?

According to opinion polls you Zionists say that you believe me more than you believe your officials. This time I invite you to hear me well and believe

me; today we have acted patiently in spite of the attack, which happened at night against the southern suburb (Aldahia) and the accumulation of assaults

on every village, district, house and street in Lebanon.?

There is no difference between the southern suburb, Beirut city and any house in South Lebanon, the Bekaa, and the North, Mount Lebanon or any of Lebanon’s

corners.?

This equation has ended; today I will not say if you strike Beirut we will hit Haifa. You wanted this equation broken, then so be it, for us as well as

for you; you wanted an open war, we are going to an open war, and we are ready for it; a war on every level, to Haifa and believe me beyond Haifa, and

yonder than beyond Haifa.?

The price will not be paid by us alone, not only our homes will be destroyed, not only our children alone will be killed, nor will our people alone be displaced.?

That era is finished, that was before 1982 and the before year 2000; that period is over.?

I promise that that phase has ended and therefore you have to bear the responsibility of the deeds carried out and committed by your government. From now

on you wanted open warfare, then so be it, let it be open warfare.?

You want, your government wants to change the rules of conflict, and then let the rules change. Today, you do not know whom you are fighting. You are fighting

the sons of Muhammad and Ali, and Al-Hassan, and Al-Hussein, and the household of Allah/God’s Prophet, and the Companions of Allah/God’s Prophet.?

You are fighting a people who possess faith unmatched by anyone’s on the face of this earth. You have chosen an open war with a people who cherish their

history, civilization and culture, who possess the physical ability, potential, experience, reason, calm, maturity, determination, fortitude and courage.?

The coming days will reveal this truth between us and you, God willing.?

As for the Arab rulers, I do not wish to ask you about your history, but I will say only a few brief words, “adventurers”. Yes, we in Hizbullah are adventurers,

but adventurers since 1982 who have brought our nation nothing but, victory, freedom, liberation, honour and dignity, and a head held high.?

This is our history, this is our experience, these are our adventures.?

In 1982, you and the world said we are insane. We have proved sensible, but as for whom is insane, that is another matter I do not wish to go into debate

with anyone over.?

To them I say: wager on your minds and we will wager on our adventure, and Allah/God is our upholder and helper. There has not been a day when we ever gambled

on you, but on Allah/God, on our people, on our hearts, on ourselves and on our sons; and today again we make the same wager and victory Allah/God willing,

will come."?

The surprises I promised you will begin as of now. Off Beirut’s coast the Israeli military warship which attacked our infrastructure, people’s homes and

targeted civilians is burning, and will soon sink taking with it tens of Israeli Zionist soldiers.?

This is the beginning and until the end, a date for long words.?

May Allah’s peace and mercy be  with you.?

NASRALLAH

Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah: "You wanted an open war. You will get an open war"

Source: Aljazeera, 15-7-2006?

Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, the chief of Hizbullah group, has pledged open war on “Israel” after it bombed his Beirut home on Friday in a dramatic expansion

of the latest “Israeli” assault.?

In his first public statement since “Israel” laid siege to Lebanon on Wednesday, Nasrallah said: "You want an open war. We are going to open war. We are

ready for it"?

Speaking to Al-Manar TV by telephone, Nasrallah warned: "You have chosen war against people who have brains, capacities and expertise. The surprises that

I have promised you will start now.?

"Look into the middle of the sea, facing Beirut, the “Israeli” warship that has pounded the infrastructure, people`s homes and civilians - look at it burning.

It will sink and with it will sink scores of “Israeli” Zionist soldiers. This is just the beginning," he added.?

An “Israeli” military spokesman admitted that an “Israeli” naval ship had been hit in Lebanese waters, apparently by a rocket. The spokesman claimed the

damage was not serious and that there were no casualties.?

Later the “Israeli” military confirmed that the vessel had been badly damaged and that four “Israeli” troops were missing at sea.?

“Israeli” media reported a claim that the ship was hit by an unmanned airborne drone packed with explosives.?

Celebratory gunfire erupted in the Lebanese capital and drivers honked their horns after Nasrallah`s speech.?

"We will not say that we will bomb Haifa, we will go beyond and beyond Haifa," he added.?

"Our homes will not be the only ones to be destroyed, our children will not be the only ones to die ... Those days are over I promise you. You [“Israelis”]

must take responsibility for what your government has done," he said.?

Responding to a Saudi statement that Hizbullah’s capture of two “Israeli” soldiers on Wednesday was "an uncalculated adventure," Nasrallah said: "I will

not ask you about your history. We in Hizbullah are adventurous. That has been true since 1982 ... when you said because of our adventures that we are

crazy. But we proved that we only brought freedom, liberation, dignity and pride to our country since  that time."?

DURING THE WAR INTERVIEW WITH NASRALLAH

Nasrallah says Israeli incursions will not stop rocket fire

BEIRUT - Israeli Army incursions in south Lebanon will not stop Hezbollah from firing rockets into northern ""Israel"", the Lebanese guerrilla group leader, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, said in remarks published on Monday.
"Any Israeli incursion will not have political results unless it achieves any of the announced goals, most importantly to stop the bombardment of Zionist settlements ... and I assure you that this goal will not be achieved," he told Lebanese As-Safir daily newspaper.
Nasrallah, whose whereabouts are unknown, also said Hezbollah would not object if the Lebanese government was to negotiate a prisoner swap, under which Hezbollah freed the two Israeli soldiers it captured on July 12 in return for Lebanese and Arab prisoners in Israeli jails.
